CLIMB: Mt. Whitney Backpacker 5
Climber Story

Help Me Summit for Someone!

In August of 2012 I put my name into a contest to climb Mt. Whitney with Backpacker Magazine. The winners of the contest would get the oppurtunity to climb the highest peak in the contiguous United States at 14,505-ft. As part of this opportunity, the climbers would also be asked to raise money for Big City Mountaineers.

As luck would have it, I was one of the lucky winners. I am very excited to both climb this mountain and to do it while knowing that I am helping to support a great youth program.

A little about BCM. Big City Mountaineers provides positive mentoring through wilderness programs with at-risk kids. A short video on the program can be found here.

For me, I have started to train. Running 5 days a week, climbing stairs, and out hiking. Come join me. Help me if you can. Click on that donate button for a fully tax deductible contribution. All of it goes to the program. I am covering my own expenses and I will match any contribution over $100.

Thanks for your support!

Best of luck Tony. Climb well. Hydrate often. Stay warm. And don't worry about the fact that a few of the climbers from past years have never returned. You'll do great!
